Who Needs A Vacation?

Its Blog Carnival time again! Our lovely host, HandmadeBySandi, would like to know "Of all the places in the world, where would you like to go and why?" I'm not picky, really... I'd like to be sitting here:

Drinking one of these:

Listening to a playlist of his greatest hits:

To guitars, tiki bars and a whole lotta love
Mangoes and Marley, you know, fit me like a glove
Sixth gear with nowhere to steer
When enough is enough
It's guitars, tiki bars and a whole lotta love

Now let's all close our eyes, and pretend we are there.... ahhh.......

Item of the Week - February 15, 2010

Happy President's Day! Here are some interesting tidbits about President's Day from Wikipedia:
Washington's Birthday is a United States federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February. It is also commonly known as Presidents Day.

On 1 January 1971, the federal holiday was shifted to the third Monday in February by the Uniform Monday Holiday Act. This date places it between February 15 and 21, which makes the name "Washington's Birthday" a misnomer, since it never lands on Washington's actual birthday, February 22. A draft of the Uniform Holidays Bill of 1968 would have renamed the holiday to Presidents' Day to honor the birthdays of both Washington and Lincoln, but this proposal failed in committee and the bill as voted on and signed into law on 28 June 1968, kept the name Washington's Birthday.

By the mid-1980s, with a push from advertisers, the term "Presidents Day" began its public appearance. Although Lincoln's birthday, February 12, was never a federal holiday, approximately a dozen state governments have officially renamed their Washington's Birthday observances as "Presidents Day", "Washington and Lincoln Day", or other such designations.

Now on to the item of the week! I don't have anything presidential or historical in my shop but, I do have some very patriotic critters to share with you. Meet Sam the Octopus and Alice the Snake, while they may never run for office, they sure would love to move into a new home!

Get $2 off either plushie or $5 off if you order both, between now and midnight on Saturday, February 20 just by putting "Happy Presidents Day" in the notes to seller at checkout. Refund will be given by PayPal, or convo me after purchase for a revised invoice.
(I know the weekly sale usually runs through Sunday evening, but I will be at a craft show February and will not be able to access my email and PayPal for the day)

Happy Shopping!

Think About Your Heart

One of the topics for the current EtsyBloggers blog carnival is to discuss heart health month. The American Heart Association has a website called My Life Check which helps you to make the promise to better your heart health. Its well worth checking out, here are the seven simple steps that they outline:
1) Get Active
2) Eat Better
3) Lose Weight
4) Stop Smoking
5) Control Cholesterol
6) Manage Blood Pressure
7) Reduce Blood Sugar

Visit the site to read more details on each of these topics.

While speaking about hearts, this Sunday is Valentine's Day! I sent my little man to daycare this morning with a bag full of Disney Cars Valentines for his classmates, complete with a heart shaped "I LOVE YOU" lollipop. I'm not a fan of giving candy to such young kids, but all of the parents did it last year and I felt guilty not reciprocating (in all honesty, the thought never crossed my mind!). My son doesn't eat candy and has no desire to, so I am not sure what I will do with all the pink and red heart shaped lollipops that he will come home with, but I am sure he will enjoy looking at all the cards. He is already in love with the extras I let him keep!

Be sure to visit Foxy G Knits on Monday morning to read all of the other entries into the Blog Carnival!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Item of the Week - February 8, 2010

Monday again! The weekend brought lots of snow to the northeast US, luckily, the northern parts of New Jersey were spared and we didn't even see any flakes falling from the sky. It was really bizarre because people less than a mile away from me were getting up to 5 inches.

Anyway, the item of the week this week isn't really an item perse, its more of a website. Over the weekend I hit a milestone I never dreamed possible, I have 500 fans on my Facebook page! It's mind boggling! In celebration of that milestone, I am hosting a Facebook Fans only sale which covers the entire shop. If you aren't yet a fan (I mean, how can you not be, I have FIVE HUNDRED FANS), feel free to become a fan and check the page for the details of the sale.

Have a great week!

Meet Leon

The newest bunny in the carrot patch is a sweet yellow and white little guy named Leon. He reminds me of a banana cream pie! But, we all know that bunnies don't eat bananas, they eat carrots and veggies and wiggle their cute little noses.

Leon is named after a very strong and powerful man (those who know me well, will likely guess where I came up with the name), but he is a real cutie and loves to snuggle and play bunny games.

Stop by and show some love to Leon, he'll be very pleased to have met you!

Do you know someone who loves snuggly little bunnies but doesn't quite care for the color yellow? No problem!! Simply send me a conversation in Etsy and let me know what colors you would like your bunny to be. Please allow 7-10 days from time of payment for your custom order to be shipped.

Item of the Week - Guardian Angel Bracelet

Good morning blogland! I apologize for not posting a featured item last week, my day job was hectic all week and my little guy was sick, so add them together and I had no free time for blogging or creating.

This week's featured item is an adorable guardian angel bracelet that I've made in various sizes over the years. I bought several fimo clay angel and heart beads and decided to pair them with red bicone plastic beads and oxidized metal spacers. This bracelet is great for any occasion - hearts for Valentine's Day, angels for inspiration and comfort - and it can be made to fit any wrist size from 5 inches up to 8 inches!!

Purchase this bracelet anytime between now and midnight on Sunday, February 7, 2010 and put "I believe in angels" in the notes to seller at check-out and you will receive a super cute surprise magnet. Please also include in the notes to seller if you would like the bracelet in a specific size, if you do not, I will select one for you.

Happy Shopping!!
